“I was a milkshake addict.”

Mitchell Goroff

For computer consultant Mitchell Goroff, traveling–and the loneliness that came
with it–was a big part of the job. “Being on the road, I missed my family,” he recalls, “and I’d deal with it by treating myself to milkshakes.” Soon, Mitchell reached 250 pounds. “When I saw that number on a scale,” he explains, “I knew it was time to get serious about losing weight.”

“My waist went from a size 44 to a 34.”

“Before,” Mitchell says, “when my son and daughter coaxed me into playing outside, I’d be wiped out after five minutes. Now, they get tired before I do!” Mitchell’s results also changed the way he buys clothes. “I shed 10 inches from my waist,” he explains, “and went from an extra-large shirt to a medium.” And, because of the ShapeWorks™ products, the self-described milkshake addict went
from virtually no exercise to lifting weights and running several times a week.*

“The best part is that I love these shakes!”

Here's how:
Listen to testimonials first. You go in believing it can work, and it’ll work.

Lose Extra Pounds Put On After Pregnancy

Along with the love and joy of having a newborn, Carmen experienced something she didn’t expect—unhappiness from not being able to lose the extra pounds she had put on during her pregnancy. Carmen and Alfredo were first introduced to Herbalife products because Alfredo had digestive problems. As he began to feel better, Carmen realized they could further benefit from Herbalife by losing their unwanted weight through the ShapeWorks™ Program.

“My whole body was reacting badly to all the different diets I was putting it through.”

Prior to Herbalife, Carmen felt numerous physical ill effects from fad diets and knew that she was causing her body harm. But, when she began the Shapeworks™ Program with Total Control®, she never felt like she was on a diet.

“Most diets are about not eating this or that, but with Herbalife I was eating five times a day.”

Carmen finds that the Shapeworks™ line of products works because it concentrates on nutrition and overall health for long-term weight loss. Herbalife products leave you satisfied, so you make better food choices.

"Our lives are totally different!”

Having both reshaped their bodies, Carmen and Alfredo also improved their energy, enhanced their self-esteem, and created a livelier atmosphere at home for their family.

“We now have the confidence to be proud of who we are.”

Today, Carmen is 74 pounds lighter and her husband 98 pounds. While their family still eats many of the same foods they used to enjoy, the trio has incorporated more fruits and vegetables into the mix. Carmen loves the fact her entire family looks and feels better than ever before.*

“It’s about so much more than losing weight—now we’re happy and healthy, too.”

Lose Weight After Pregnancy

Spring had always kept herself in shape. But after giving birth to twins–babies four and five– Spring couldn’t lose the excess weight she gained during the pregnancy. Eventually, Spring’s stress from her inability to shed the pounds led to depression. After seeing her mother achieve amazing weight-loss results using Herbalife, Spring decided to give the program a try.

Q: You’ve said your mother provided the inspiration you needed to try Herbalife. How’d that happen?
A: My mom told me to start using Herbalife, but she really didn’t have to. I was already inspired by how much weight she lost, how great she looked and how much her health improved after using Herbalife herself.

Q: What changed in your life as a result of Herbalife?
A: Everything changed. I went from depressed to happy, from tired to energetic–and from fat to thin! After my last pregnancy, I barely had the energy to get through the day, let alone play with my five kids. Today, I have energy to burn, my depression is gone, and I even make healthier food choices.

Q: Why do you think Herbalife worked where other programs didn’t?
A: Two reasons. First, Herbalife is simple. That makes staying on it much easier than with other weight-loss programs. Second, I experienced results right away. I felt more energy my first day on Herbalife–and I’ve felt great ever since!

Q: Congratulations on your success. Any weight-loss tips?
A: Drink lots of water!

Loving Life
Making her Herbalife shakes even tastier: “I love to add berries or banana to my
shakes for extra flavor.” Enjoying a healthier life: “I exercise every day now, make healthier food choices and stay away from fried foods and sugar.” The best thing about Herbalife: “It’s given me more than enough energy to keep up with my five children!”*

Are you getting the right protein intake?

Thank goodness for protein
We need protein in our diet to stay strong and healthy. If we don't eat enough our bodies will steal it from our muscles and organs. In fact, protein is essential for the development of our muscles, which lead to an increase in the burning of calories. Our muscles could be described as fat furnaces as they keep our metabolism running high.

Too many fast releasing carbohydrates lead to weight gain
Traditionally we were taught that carbohydrates should provide our body with its primary supply of energy. However, many people have confused fast releasing carbohydrates (pasta, cakes) and slow releasing carbohydrates (whole grains, vegetables) eating too many of the former-the tempting, convenient, tasty variety! Most of us lead sedentary lives, so any excess energy from carbohydrate-rich food) is stored as fat

Optimize your protein intake in your diet and lose weight!
Remember to:
1. Eat regular meals spaced throughout the day
2. Choose slow releasing carbohydrates foods
3. Increase your intake of live foods (fresh fruit and vegetables)
4. Identify your body's protein needs and consume
the amount you need

How much protein do I need?
On average:
Women need 100g of protein in diet per day
Men need 150g protein in diet per day

How can Herbal Vitality help me?
If you tried to get all the protein you need from foods such as meats, you would consume too many calories, because these protein rich foods come with extra fat calories.
Protein-enriched meal replacement shakes, Protein Supplement Powder and High Protein Low Carbohydrate snack products, contain protein sources which are easily absorbed and assimilated, and which allow you to reach your body's protein requirements without those unwanted calories.
Easy and convenient to follow the programme, so will fit into a busy lifestyle. For example, easy to take a shake for breakfast (in milk or juice or yoghurt) to help balance blood sugar levels, rather than skip breakfast altogether. Its fast food for smart people!

Reduce grains and sugar to lose weight and improve health

For several million years, humans existed on a diet of animals and vegetation. It was only with the advent of agriculture a mere 10,000 years ago - a fraction of a second in evolutionary time - that humans began ingesting large amounts of sugar and starch in the form of grains (and potatoes) into their diets. Indeed, 99.99% of our genes were formed before the advent of agriculture; in biological terms, our bodies are still those of hunter-gatherers.

While the human shift to agriculture produced indisputable gains for man - modern civilization is based on this epoch - societies where the transition from a primarily meat/vegetation diet to one high in cereals show a reduced lifespan and stature, increases in infant mortality and infectious disease, and higher nutritional deficiencies.

Contemporary humans have not suddenly evolved mechanisms to incorporate the high carbohydrates from starch- and sugar-rich foods into their diet. In short, we are consuming far too much bread, cereal, pasta, corn (a grain, not a vegetable), rice, potatoes and rice cakes, with very grave consequences to our health. Making matters worse, most of these carbohydrates we consume come in the form of processed food.

That 65% of Americans are overweight, and 27% clinically obese, in a nation addicted to sesame seed buns for that hamburger, with a side of French fries and a Coke, is no coincidence. It is not the fat in the foods we eat but, far more, the excess carbohydrates from our starch- and sugar-loaded diet that is making people fat and unhealthy, and leading to epidemic levels of a host of diseases such as diabetes.

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, chances are very good that the excess carbohydrates in your body are, in part or whole, to blame:
Excess weight
Fatigue and frequent sleepiness
Depression
Brain fogginess
Bloating
Low blood sugar
High blood pressure
High triglycerides

We all need a certain amount of carbohydrates, of course, but, through our addiction to grains, potatoes, sweets and other starchy and sugary foods, we are consuming far too many. The body's storage capacity for carbohydrates is quite limited, though, so here's what happens to all the excess: they are converted, via insulin, into fat and stored in the adipose, or fatty, tissue.

Any meal or snack high in carbohydrates generates a rapid rise in blood glucose. To adjust for this rise, the pancreas secretes the hormone insulin into the bloodstream, which lowers the glucose. Insulin is, though, essentially a storage hormone, evolved over those millions of years of humans prior to the agricultural age, to store the excess calories from carbohydrates in the form of fat in case of famine.

Insulin, stimulated by the excess carbohydrates in our overabundant consumption of grains, starches and sweets, is responsible for all those bulging stomachs and fat rolls in thighs and chins.

Even worse, high insulin levels suppress two other important hormones - glucagons and growth hormones - that are responsible for burning fat and sugar and promoting muscle development, respectively. So insulin from excess carbohydrates promotes fat, and then wards off the body's ability to lose that fat.Excess weight and obesity lead to heart disease and a wide variety of other diseases. But the ill effect of grains and sugars does not end there. They suppress the immune system, contributing to allergies, and they are responsible for a host of digestive disorders. They contribute to depression, and their excess consumption is, in fact, associated with many of the chronic diseases in our nation, such as cancer and diabetes.
